Painted this "blushing bride" tall bearded iris in a larger scale than I normally paint!

Looks even more dramatic.  Love irises!

Here are a few steps to show how I lay out the tulip painting!  Start by covering the canvas in transparents colors.  Then add white to shape where the tulips are. Then I just keep adding detail.  And then I added the background of Payne's grey to darken the background and pop the tulips out!

Hope this helps a little.  I have got to figure out video so I can add video to my blogs!! If only there was two of me.:)

Step by Step: still life with fruit

Good morning or afternoon, so what I will do in this post is show you how I go about painting a still life.  First step is the blocking in, where I quickly decide where everything is going to go on the canvas.  It saves me major corrections later because I already can see what it will look like!  I have to be patient here which is hard!  I will tweak the composition here and there quickly before moving on.

In this painting I was inspired by th white tulips I bought from Safeway.

I love white flowers, and I love Tulips!  So it was a delight painting this.
