So I finally got up the courage to paint this cute little babushka and I quite like the result!  I must paint more.  Too darn cute.  I hope you have a great weekend!
Happy painting!

Where do you get your inspiration for a painting a day?  I was thinking about warmth when I painted these flowers I bought from trader joes the other day.  Sometimes it's more complex than that but for today that was it!   Hope you have a wonderful time at the easel today!

If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.

Touch of Sunshine

Sometimes I like a challenge!  I painted this in Quang Hiang's class at Scottsdale
Artists School.  I had a good friend in from Canada painting with me so it really was a great time.
I painted lots of details in the pot at first then decided to scrape them off.  It became a major distraction!
Art is a collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does the better. Andre Gide

Song of Mine

Hello,  I am back!  Really loved my class with Qaing Haung, a fellow daily painter @ Scottsdale artists school.  I am looking forward to getting more time to paint next
week!  Try some new things out!
Anyhow,  this painting was done from the bauquet in the photo.

I dream my painting and I paint my dream.

I'm in a class at the Scottsdale Artists school this week.  I'm learning lots!
All my oil painting supplies are at the school so had to paint using acrylics.  It's a challenge in the desert but it was fun!
Hope your having a wonderful week.

I have been getting extremely positive feedback so far in this new year.  And it makes me very happy because I feel as an artist I'm finding my path.  As I take courses with different teachers I go on a short side journey practicing their style using some new techniques.  After a while I don't know about you but it can be confusing?! In the end we need to paint in the style that best expresses the story we want to tell with our art.  I'm really seeing the opportunities are boundless!   Next week I'm in a class I'll let you know if there are some riveting new tools!
Hope you have a great time painting!

I don't know how your new year is going but mines great so far so good!  Getting over this horrendous cold for one is a plus!  Anyhow, I'm just trying to enjoy painting and I'm mixing things up a little right now.  I am just "playing" in my studio.  I hope to keep exploring and learning new things to keep my paintings fresh.  Hope you have a good day!

Etude -A musical composition written solely to improve technique. Often performed for artistic interest.

I love painting daisies, I do think if you paint them a couple times a week you will improve your ability to paint other flowers.  Plus they last longer then other flowers and do move around as much!
Hope you have a great time painting this week.  :)

  • allegro: cheerful or brisk; but commonly interpreted as lively, fast.
That's the definition and why I called this painting Allegro.
I liked the cheerful lively energy in this one.  I'm going back to my more contemporary roots with the bolder fun colors.  I'm enjoying this series of paintings.  I hope that this year would be a year of growth for all the painters I know!  Cheers
