Not only are Poinsettias beautiful, they have a interesting history. During the 14th - 16th century the sap was used to control fevers and the leaves were used to make red dye. I personally think they make excellent decoration during the winter and Christmas season.
I like the bright warm red highlights and the mood this painting has. I feel it is important to capture a mood in every painting I make big or small.
